Many ways that people make in order to be successful diet program, whether it's using a particular method or use special tools.

This time, a team of researchers from Japan created a headset that can alter one's perception of the size or amount of food.

Headset shaped like glasses can reduce the amount of food consumed by users to more than 10 percent.

Even with the same trick, this tool can help people whose appetites a bit so eat more. In other words, these tools can drive a person to the level of consumption reached 15 percent.

In particular, the research team from the University of Tokyo developed a special software attached to the headset AR (augmented reality).

Well this software the user can trigger the brain to change the scale size of the food in front of his eyes become larger or smaller than actual size directly.

Uniquely, the system adapts the tools of deformation algorithms can change the size of food according to the users hand so the user feels that the actual shape.

When tested in the laboratory, researchers found that when food was enlarged 1.5 times the amount of food consumed by the participants decreased by 10 percent.

Conversely when the 'appearance' of food is reduced to two-thirds times the actual size, the amount of food consumed by participants has increased 15 percent.

"This technology stimulates one to think that the meal portions are enough visually. Fact when food looks great, someone will immediately feel full even just by looking at them, but when the food looks smaller, you will not feel full despite eating a lot," said Takuji Narumi one researcher was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail, Friday (23/11/2012).

Unfortunately the system is attached to the headset can only work if the subject is motivated by a blue screen (bluescreen) image processing software to simplify the food in sight.

Even so, the researchers hope to apply this system at home using image processing technology is more 'smart' to change 'sightings' measure different types of food.

"In the future we want to develop a technology that can encourage healthy eating habits in people without them needing to think first," said Narumi.

For example, high-calorie foods consumed should not be enlarged automatically by a computer or a food that should be consumed in large quantities because of high nutritious can be made smaller so that people can eat a lot.
