Overweight and obesity is now a major problem in most of the countries in the world. This condition should not be underestimated, as obesity can kill three times more than malnutrition.

In a special issue of The Lancet study is currently unknown obesity caused the death of 3-fold compared to malnutrition per year worldwide. It shows now eating too much can be a more serious risk to public health than eating less.

Around the world there has been significant success in tackling malnutrition, which is the death rate fell by two-thirds from 1990 to 2010.

But with the increase in welfare even new problems such as obesity arises where a person due to overeating and lack of exercise every day, so the waistline continues to expand.

"We've gone from the world of 20 years ago where people do not get enough to eat to a world now where a lot of unhealthy food consumption and too much, it makes us so sick," said Dr. Majid Ezzati, chair of global environmental health of the Imperial College London, as quoted from the Telegraph, Sunday (16/12/2012).

People who overeat makes health deteriorated and largely increase the risk of diseases associated with obesity, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

These issues have major implications for the health system, so this should be a priority and can not be underestimated. There are known factors associated with the cause of death one is obese, as well as high blood pressure and smoking.

Obesity alone has increased from risk factors to sequence the order of 10 6, while high blood pressure increases of the order of 4 to the first and accounts for approximately 9 million deaths annually.

"There are many things we can do to reduce the risk of disease. For that action needs to be taken to address new problems now faced by physicians throughout the world," said Dr. Ezzati.
