To do blood donation not only requires preparation, but also there are some things that must be done after donating our blood. According to nutritionists at Snap Fitness India, Annapurna Agrawal, after doing a blood donor should also pay attention to the food that will be consumed. Here are some noteworthy things after blood donation.

First thing, drink a lot of fluids or white water. Drinking much fluid is very important after donating the blood because to replace the fluids newly disappear. You should continue to drink lots of water for 24 up to 48 hours ahead. It aims to prevent low blood pressure.

Furthermore, eating foods rich in folic acid. Body uses folate which is also known as B-9, folic acid or folacin to produce new red blood cells. Therefore, you should consume foods rich in folate to help the body replace the lost blood cells after donation. Foods that contain folic acid among others, liver, dried beans, asparagus and green leafy vegetables. Examples of green leafy vegetables, namely, spinach, and orange juice.

Then, eat foods rich in vitamin B-2, namely another vitamin that is needed to produce red blood cells. Vitamin B-2 helps our body convert carbohydrates into energy. This is very important, because as long as you donate blood the body will feel weak, therefore your body needs energy from these foods. Examples of foods that contain vitamin B-2, including green leafy vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, and vitamin-fortified cereals. In addition, you can also consume milk products and yogurt to get vitamin B-2.

Then, eat foods rich in vitamin B-6. Foods with vitamin B-6 has a number of benefits after you donate blood. The body needs vitamins to build blood cells healthy and helps solve the protein. This is because the protein contains many nutrients that are required after blood donation. Examples of foods containing vitamin B-6 in between, potatoes, bananas, whole grains, nuts, red meat, fish, eggs, and spinach.
